Common Queries

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I do have a limited number of sliding scale spots for individuals who would otherwise be unable to access therapy. I cannot guarantee availability, but please let me know if you would like to discuss this option in our initial session.

How do I use my insurance benefits?

I am an in-network provider for Aetna, Cigna, Optum, and United. In order to use these benefits, please book here.

For all other insurance companies, I am considered an out-of-network provider. I do provide superbills (aka invoices) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement per your out-of-network benefits. In order to determine what those benefits are, I recommend calling customer support. Some good questions to ask are: What is my out-of-network reimbursement rate for outpatient mental health services? What is my deductible and do I have to meet it before I can use my benefits?

What will my first session be like?

I approach first sessions with a bit more structure than in subsequent sessions. I'll review confidentiality, informed consent, and walk through the policies you'll have had a chance to look at before we meet.

After that, we can talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're currently dealing with, what your life is like, or anything else that feels important to you. If you know what your goals are for therapy, that's great! If not, we'll figure it out together.

What if I don't think you're the therapist I'm looking for?

My goal is to help you get the help you need. If I can be the person who provides that help, that's great. If I'm not that person, then I will support you in finding whoever that person will be. I can provide referrals to other providers and can also give you guidance (if requested) on what to look for in your next provider based on our own interactions.

This is your therapy and I hope you will feel free to communicate openly with me about what is or is not working for you.
