Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach is built on a foundation of relational psychodynamic theory. To explain that a bit further, this perspective is rooted in the belief that we experience growth, harm, and healing all in the context of our relationships with both self and others. This perspective allows the therapeutic relationship to act as a safe space in which all of the struggles you experience outside of therapy can be worked through in the therapeutic relationship itself. By better understanding the relationship between your mind, body, and others, you will be more equipped to see how your patterns, thoughts, and beliefs are impacting how you live.
From that foundation, I also flexibly incorporate elements of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), solution-focused, strengths-based, and attachment work when appropriate and desired.
At this time, I solely provide individual counseling. If during our work together you would like to incorporate couples counseling or coaching, I can provide you with appropriate referrals and would be happy to collaborate with another treatment provider.
